COALITION BUILDING – A Vindication of My Position
By Hon Momodou Charreh Gibba
Elections are not a single event, but a continuous process that unfolds across an entire electoral cycle. One of the most critical stages in this process is voter registration, which lays the foundation for a free, fair, and credible election.

My position on coalition building ahead of the 2026 presidential election remains firm and unchanged. While some may view my stance as rigid, the reality is clear: I strongly support a party-led coalition.
It is neither fair nor realistic to ignore the efforts, structure, and nationwide strength of the United Democratic Party (UDP). A credible voter registration process reflects political presence and grassroots engagement. Yet, as we observe the ongoing registration exercise, the visibility of many parties that claim to have “winnable candidates” is noticeably limited. Only a few are actively engaged.
So one must ask: where are the others?
Fellow Gambians, our country stands at a critical crossroads. The responsibility lies with all of us to choose wisely , and this is a defining moment that could either shape or shake our future.
I therefore call on all citizens to rally behind the United Democratic Party under the leadership of Ousainou Darboe. His commitment is very clear—ONE TERM, ONE MISSION which focused on delivering:
A NEW CONSTITUTION of THE PEOPLE, for THE PEOPLE and by THE PEOPLE.
STRONG INSTITUTIONAL REFORMS.
COMPREHENSIVE SECURITY SECTOR REFORM and
SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC REFORMS.
Let us take responsibility by ensuring we are registered, informed, and ready to vote wisely.
Support Hon. Ousainou ANM Darboe for a better Gambia.
