President Adama Barrow expected to inaugurate vital link to Gunjur’s coastal hub

The long-awaited Gunjur Beach Road is set to be officially inaugurated on Saturday, 19 September 2026, with President Adama Barrow expected to preside over the opening ceremony.

The road, which provides a vital link between Gunjur’s main community and its increasingly vibrant coastal and beach area, is regarded as an important infrastructure development for the sprawling coastal settlement.

The project was contracted to Green Vision International, a company associated with Gunjur-born businessman Ousman John Touray.

The completion of the road is expected to improve access to the beach, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and provide a significant boost to commercial activity in and around the coastal area.

For Gunjur, where the beach has become an increasingly important destination for residents, visitors and businesses, the road is seen as more than just a transport link. Its improved accessibility could create opportunities for tourism, hospitality, small businesses and other economic activities along the coastal corridor.

The official opening will mark the completion of a project that residents and businesses have long regarded as strategically important to the development of Gunjur’s coastal area.

The inauguration is expected to bring together government officials, community leaders, local businesses, residents and other stakeholders to formally mark the opening of the road to the public.
