Talib-Ceesay embrace receives UDP blowback
By Sainey Darboe:
The announcement of Dr. Ceesay as policy adviser to Kanifing, Mayor, Talib Bensuda has been met with stiff resistance from top UDP apparatchik.

Sounding off on the move, US-based Pata SaidyKhan issued chilling warning on his Facebook page:
“I have NO problems with Talib reaching out in an effort to serve country but he must NEVER forget that he won the Mayoral on Political Party ticket. On the surface, the optics are good for Talib to be seen as 'different'. However, there's a reason Dr. Ceesay is not UDP. There's a reason he is working on [at least allegedly] on establishing his party.
That effectively makes him a political opponent. Therefore, it's only political novice that elicits the services of an opponent in helping form ot establish Policies. Imagine the Halifa Sallah hiring an Amadou Sanneh as Policy anything, or Ousainou Darboe contracting Ousman Sillah.Talib is pandering. The gallery are awake. The 'I will only vote the UDP if they select Talib' crew gotta be itching”.
Weighing in on the matter, Lawyer and commentator Famara Singhateh enunciated: “Yeap, Talib could have come via alternative route (consultant). I hope we don't take this out of context, but I will agree fully that policy matters are different from consultant engagement. If not Gambia, politics is all about policy. A partisan mayor cannot go this deep inclusive. Either way, one of the two is been compromised policy wise”.
KMC Mayor Bensuda earlier today announced the appointment of political science lecturer, Dr Ismaila Ceesay as Policy Adviser at his office.
