Banjul, 12 November 2025 — The long-awaited legal battle involving the Auditor General, Modou Ceesay took a key turn today at the Supreme Court, where the Honourable Chief Justice presided over proceedings and set strict timelines for the next stage of the case.

The case, which came up at 10:30 a.m., drew notable legal figures from both sides. Lawyers Lamin J. Darbo and Jarra Jeng appeared for the Plaintiff, while the Defendants were represented by Solicitor General H. Thomasi alongside Ida D. Drammeh, a private legal practitioner, J. O. Okete, Acting Director of Civil Litigation, A. A. Wakawz, Principal State Counsel, S. L. Jobarteh, Senior State Counsel, and M. Ngum, Senior State Counsel.

During the proceedings, the Chief Justice directed both parties to consult and agree on the key issues in the case and to file summaries of evidence or affidavit statements by 26 November 2025.
In a notable development, the Court suo motu (on its own motion) ordered that Cherno Amadou Sowe be joined as a third defendant, describing him as an interested party in the matter. The Court also ordered that all case documents be served on him, though he remains free to respond as he wishes.
The Chief Justice further instructed that the agreed facts and issues be submitted to the Supreme Court before the next hearing scheduled for 3 December 2025.
Today’s development marks an important procedural milestone in a case closely watched for its implications on public accountability and governance in The Gambia.
