As work resumes at the state of the art multi-purpose centre being constructed by the Gunjur Development Association “GDA”, the Departmememt of Communities of the government of the Republic of The Gambia has approved and disbursed a sum of D100,000 towards the multi-purpose centre.
The funds were approved in response to a project proposal for the “creation of employment opportunities and livelihood skill for the youth through construction of Multipurpose skills training center.”
Department of Communities, which is headed by Gunjur-born Fatou “Neneh” Gibba responded to a project proposal as part of their mandate to support and encourage projects geared towards creating skills and employment opportunities for the youth in their own communities.
The handsome amount of D100K will be a welcome news as GDA ramp up efforts to complete the multi-purpose centre will be unprecedented in the sprawling coastal settlement.
The Gunjur Development Association “GDA” Multipurpose Centre is largely being funded by the people of Gunjur, friends and well wishers both at home and in the Diaspora, through fundraising, and through donations.
When completed, the multi-purpose centre will house a Skills Centre, a Cafeteria, Conference and Events Hall, a Library, Gym Centre and Open Park for Social Events.
