Gambians who pledged allegiance to other countries through acquired citizenship have been offered an opportunity to serve their country of provenances, according to provisions of the new constitution which becomes supreme law of the land if approved in a referendum.
Although former president Yahya Jammeh had a handful of ministers with dual citizenship in his cabinet at various points in his rule, dual citizenship for ministers was a disqualifying factor under the law of the land.
The development, if upheld in subsequent referendum, is welcome news to Gambians in the diaspora who wish to put their talents and skill set to the service of motherland.
