Sarjo Touray served as a member of parliament and minister under the late Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara regime for many years until the 1994 military coup. He later departed for the United States where he resettled with his family.

Speaking at a gathering of hundreds of people held in his native Karantaba meant to honor and thank Sarjo Touray for his contribution to the development of his constituency, Bubanding Dahaba recalled:

“Mr. Touray is a very honest man who had contributed immensely to the development of his people. He is a very honest man who served his people with honor and distinction.

During his time as representative of the constituency, he dug and installed over 70 wells and taps. The people of this constituency will be forever grateful to him for his sacrifices over the years”.

In his turn to address the gathering, Mr. Touray pledged to continue supporting development efforts in the region and the country as a whole like he did in the past.
