The litigation parties had previously agreed on out of Court settlement at a previous hearing. The case has now been adjourned to Thursday 18th November 2021 at 1130pm for settlement hearing.

It could be recalled that on June 17th, 2021, the High Court granted Gunjur Environmentalists and others, an injunction against Golden Lead over proposed expansion of the factory’s operations into a land in front of the factory used by local women for vegetable gardening spanning over two decades. The said area is owned by Domung Sanyang Kunda clan that was being used by local women as vegetable gardens.

The injunction meant Golden Lead, or its agents cannot enter the land without prior approval, as prayed for by the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs are represented pro bono by Barrister Lamin J. Darbo, while Golden Lead is represented by Lawyer Lamin S. Camara.
