Gunjur United has suffered their first home defeat of the season in the Gambia Football Federation Division Two League after falling 0-2 to Unique Global FC on Thursday.
The match, played at Gunjur United’s new home ground, Nyamina Football Field started with a shock for the hosts as Unique Global FC found the net just three minutes into the game. The early goal set the tone for a challenging encounter, with Gunjur United struggling to break through a disciplined defensive setup from the visitors.
After holding their slender 1-0 lead into halftime, Unique Global FC doubled their advantage just ten minutes into the second half. The second goal added to Gunjur United’s woes, leaving them with an uphill battle to salvage a result. Despite creating opportunities to claw their way back into the contest, the Coastal Boys failed to convert, and the visitors’ resolute defense ensured the scoreline remained unchanged.
The defeat marked Gunjur United’s first home loss of the season and a drop of three vital points following their draw with Suwokono of Jarra last Tuesday, a blow to their morale as they aim to solidify their position in the league standings. Unique Global FC, on the other hand, will take pride in a hard-fought victory that bolsters their league campaign.
Gunjur United are now 15th in the league on two points from three matches having drawn with Madina United and Suwokono of Jarra.
