Gunjur United disburses over D40K to players, backroom staff as Covid-19 support
Gunjur United Football FC on Wednesday distributed D40,500 (Forty Thousand Five Hundred) Dalasis to the entire team and backroom staff for Covid-19 support in a presentation event that took place at the Gunjur Health Centre.
Gunjur United received a sum of D150,000 from Gambia Football Federation (GFF) as the governing body’s support to team during the covid-19 state of emergency which put on hold all football activities in the country.
At a club meeting held in Gunjur, the club resolved to giving players an amount of D1000 each to support them during the state of emergency.
The remaining D100K will be allocated towards buying a commercial vehicle as a means of income generating apparatus for the club, and at the same time used for transportation of tye team for games and other town team outings. As we go to press, over D13K has so far been pledged to add to the D100K to buy the commercial vehicle for Gunjur United.
Meanwhile, officials of Gambia Football Federation paid a courtesy call to the project site of the proposed Gunjur Mini Stadium at Nyamina football grounds on Wednesday. According to GFF officials, work will begin next week for the much anticipated and heavily delayed Gunjur mini stadium project.
