In the ongoing Gunjur Sports Committee (GSC) summer football championship, Farm Global and Continental Star have booked their places in the next stage of the GSC competition after recording identical 2โ€“0 victories over Red Star and Berekang, respectively, in Mondayโ€™s knockout fixtures at Nyamina Mini Stadium.

Both teams made their intentions clear with strong first-half performances, scoring twice before the break and successfully protecting their advantages in the second half.

Farm Global secured a convincing 2โ€“0 victory over Red Star in the 3pm knockout encounter to progress to the next stage of the competition.

The team started brightly, displaying attacking intent from the opening whistle. Their positive approach paid off when Omar Darboe found the back of the net with a fine finish to give his side the lead.

Fourteen minutes later, Saikou Bojang doubled Farm Globalโ€™s advantage, putting them firmly in control at 2โ€“0 heading into half-time.

Red Star returned for the second half determined to mount a comeback, creating opportunities in their search for a goal. However, Farm Global remained organised and disciplined at the back, denying their opponents a route back into the contest.

Farm Global held on until the final whistle to secure a 2โ€“0 victory and advance to the next stage, while Red Starโ€™s campaign came to an end.

Continental Star followed Farm Globalโ€™s example in the 5pm fixture, defeating Berekang 2โ€“0 to secure their place in the next stage of the GSC competition.

Continental Star started with energy and attacking purpose, taking the lead in the 20th minute through Muhammed Sonko, who produced an excellent finish to put his team ahead.

Sonko struck again in the 33rd minute, calmly converting a penalty to complete his brace and give Continental Star a commanding 2โ€“0 lead at the interval.

Berekang attempted to respond after the restart, creating chances as they searched for a way back into the game. However, Continental Star remained resolute, protecting their advantage and keeping a clean sheet until the final whistle.

The victory confirmed Continental Starโ€™s progression to the next stage, while Berekangโ€™s campaign came to an end.

Sonkoโ€™s decisive contribution also earned him the GSC Man of the Match award after scoring both goals in an impressive individual display.
