The festival brought together birding enthusiasts, conservationists, researchers and environmental advocates for a day of learning, networking and outdoor activities focused on bird conservation and environmental awareness.

Saturday’s highlight was the All-Day Birding Expo, which featured a wide range of activities including live raptor demonstrations, nest box building sessions, photography workshops and guided nature walks. Participants also joined birding and wildlife cruises departing from Semiahmoo to observe coastal wildlife and bird species in their natural habitats.

A keynote presentation was delivered by renowned wildlife photographer and author Paul Bannick, who spoke about the fascinating world of North American woodpeckers and their importance to forest ecosystems.

Writing on LinkedIn after the event, Saho described the festival as an inspiring platform that brought together professionals working in birding, conservation, citizen science and ecological research. He noted that such gatherings play an important role in strengthening collaboration and raising awareness about biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.

The Wings Over Water Northwest Birding Festival continues to attract participants from across the United States and beyond, promoting the protection of birds and their habitats while encouraging community engagement in conservation efforts.
