In the ongoing West Coast Zonal tournament, the seaside boys have humbled the Brix Zonal team with a 3-1 drubbing in their own backyard.
Three second half strikes from Pedro, Abubacarr Jabang, (the son late Foday Jabang), and Lamin Sarr Touray meant Gunjur will welcome Brikama in the return leg full of confidence.
The first half of the encounter ended in a goalless stalemate before Gunjur went ahead through a brilliant Pedro strike into the roof of the goal just 5 minutes into the second half. The Dabanani outfit doubled their lead in the 21st minute through Abubacarr Jabang.
The shocked Brikama team rallied by pulling a goal back through a Sanna Camara long range strike to make it 1-2 to Gunjur.
However, Lamin Sarr Touray had other ideas when he sent a low freekick into the back of the Brikama net to restore Gunjur’s 2 goal cushion.
Brikama visits Gunjur in the second leg of the contest on Sunday, 16th January.
