Football: Gunjur through to finals as they humbled Brikama in the West Coast Zonal competition

The Gunjur Zonal team have knocked out Brikama from the West Coast Zonal tournament semi-finals with a convincing 6-2 victory over two legs.

The Dabanani outfit repeated the first leg score line of 3-1 on home soil earlier today winning the semi-finals on a 6-2 aggregate.

Three goals from Lamin Sillah, Yankuba Suwareh, alias Bastee and Sheriffo, alias Fixer in the 9th, 31st and 39th minutes of the first half ensured that the coastal boys are guaranteed a spot in the final against Sanyang who booked their place in the final having defeated Brufut 2-0 in the other semi-final game. Brikama pulled a consolation goal from a penalty kick, but the Dabanani boys were too strong for the Brix boys over the two legs.

Reacting to the win over Brikama and qualification into the finals, the Gunjur Zonal Team coach Sulayman Barrow had this to say:

“On behalf of the technical team i would like to thank each and every sport loving gunjurian for their wonderful support that they have giving us. Still we need all hands on deck to bring back the glory to our dear motherland. One love Gunjur.“
