𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐫. 𝐁𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐨

It is with great honor that I pay tribute to our living legend, Mr. Bubanding Bajo, a recent award recipient at the maiden Gunjur Sports Committee Awards Night.

Mr. Bajo is widely admired for his beautiful smile, tireless work ethic, and unwavering commitment to football and community harmony. More than a football lover, he is a peacemaker, conflict resolver, and a strong discourager of sport hooliganism, always approaching challenges with friendliness and respect. His presence alone, with his warm gestures and reassuring smile, has been a beacon of hope for many.

For over five decades, Mr. Bajo has voluntarily dedicated himself to football administration and management in Gunjur. He has witnessed the transformation of our local football—from sandy grounds to Bahama grass pitches and a mini-stadium and nurtured generations of players who have gone on to shine at national and international levels.

His generosity is legendary. Long before policies allowed free entry for children, Mr. Bajo personally ensured that kids, underage fans, and even those unable to afford tickets could enjoy the game. I myself benefitted from his kindness as a child. He has consistently supported the weak, assisted the physically challenged, and uplifted grassroots fans, ensuring football remained inclusive and accessible.

Mr. Bajo’s tremendous efforts, commitment, and dedication in promoting grassroots football in Gunjur cannot be overstated. His over four decades of voluntary service have shaped the growth of local football, nurtured generations of players, and strengthened the spirit of community through sport.

Kudos to the Gunjur Sports Committee for organizing the Maiden Sports Awards Night and for recognizing his tireless service with an award he truly deserves as the longest-serving committee member. This honor is a fitting tribute to a man whose passion and generosity have left an indelible mark on our football community.
