Dawda Darboe Signs First Professional Contract with Slovakian Club FC Vion Zlaté Moravce-Vráble

Former Gunjur United, Wallidan FC and The Gambia U20 Scorpions striker Dawda Darboe has officially signed his first professional contract with Slovakian club FC Vion Zlaté Moravce-Vráble, marking a major milestone in his young career.

Darboe, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Fortune FC, caught the attention of scouts from Zlaté Moravce early last year following a series of impressive performances. He was monitored alongside his U20 teammate and Fortune FC forward Ali Ousaye, as well as Fortune defensive midfielder Saihou Sonko, both of whom have also completed moves to the Slovakian side.

Since joining FC Vion, Darboe has made an immediate impact, scoring four goals and registering one assist in test matches played before the winter break and during the club’s ongoing preseason preparations ahead of the second half of the MONACObet Liga campaign.

Born in Jambanjelly and raised in Gunjur, Darboe began his football journey with Gunjur United, where he quickly stood out as a teenage prospect. His move to Europe makes him the latest player from the Kombo South region to reach professional football on the continent.

Reacting to the move, Dawda Darboe expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a role in his development, including his former and current clubs, coaches, teammates, family, and friends. He described the signing as a dream come true, giving thanks to Almighty Allah for guiding his journey.
