Brikama Area Council (BAC) has today Earlier today disbursed a sum GMD3,568,525.00 (Three Million Five Hundred and Sixty-Eight thousand, Five Hundred and Twenty-Five Dalasis to seven communities in the West Coast Region for various socio-economic advancement projects. These priority projects are to be implemented in Pirang, Gunjur, Sanyang and Kartong Wards respectively.
The disbursement was made in fulfilment of the council’s obligation to commit the royalties collected from quarrying operations in these communities to support the implementation of projects in communities where quarrying operations takes place.
The funds are to be used for the rehabilitation of Women Garden in Berending, Electricity Expansion project in Kartong, Rehabilitation of Kartong Badala Fish Smoking, Electricity Expansion in Pirang Darusalam Kabilo, Rehabilitation of a major feeder road connecting Tanjeh to Lamsarr, Electricity Expansion in Gunjur and Construction of Admission Ward for Sambuya village health post.
