West Coast Youth Summer Camp 2025 Kicks Off in Gunjur with ST and Attack Reunion

Gunjur, The Gambia – The West Coast Youth Summer Camp 2025 officially opened at Gunjur Senior Secondary School, attracting youths from across the West Coast Region for a week-long program focused on empowerment, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

The opening ceremony featured the sensational reunion of two of The Gambia’s biggest music stars, ST and Attack, alongside the camp’s main sponsor, renowned philanthropist Momodou Turo Darboe.


This year’s camp is themed “Addressing Social Issues Through Entrepreneurship for Economic Growth Among Youths” and aims to tackle key challenges faced by young people. Over seven days, participants will receive practical training in leadership development, gender equality, sports administration, photography and videography, entrepreneurship, migration issues, and peacebuilding.


Amadou Camara Calls for Youth Leadership


In his opening remarks, Amadou Camara, Chairman of the West Coast Youth Committee, urged participants to embrace the opportunity to grow into responsible leaders. He praised Momodou Turo Darboe for fully sponsoring the camp and lauded the presence of ST and Attack, noting that their participation added great value to the program.


Momodou Turo Darboe Promotes One Gambia


Delivering the keynote speech, Momodou Turo Darboe, founder of the Vision Development Foundation, highlighted the importance of unity and youth empowerment in building The Gambia’s future.


“This camp provides a platform for youths, leaders, and communities to come together to shape our generation’s future. It will empower young people to be wise enough to build and mature enough to make decisions that serve people and communities,” Darboe stated.

He emphasised that transparency and accountability will pave the way for “One Gambia, One Nation, One People.”


Darboe also unveiled two exclusive “Reunion Jerseys” for ST and Attack, encouraging participants to wear them during the camp’s football final as a symbol of unity and peace.


ST and Attack Inspire Peace and Unity


The opening event concluded with thrilling performances from ST and Attack, sending a strong message of peace, unity, and the fight against tribalism. Their reunion was one of the biggest highlights of the opening ceremony, inspiring hundreds of young Gambians to work towards national cohesion.

The West Coast Youth Summer Camp 2025 will run for seven days at Gunjur Senior Secondary School, featuring sessions on entrepreneurship, sports, arts, and leadership aimed at empowering Gambian youths for sustainable economic growth.
