President Barrow cancels Bwiam meeting in respect of accident victims

Gambian President, H.E Adama Barrow has cancelled a planned meeting in Bwiam today as part of his 2019 “Meet The People Tour”
The decision followed President Adama Barrow’s Sunday evening visit to the victims of an accident that occurred in Foni during the welcoming of the Presidential convoy from the nationwide Meet the People Tour. President Barrow visited the injured accident victims at EFSTH to sympathise with the victims.
Fatou Sanyang, five year old girl from Bwiam lost her life on the spot as a result of the accident involving a commercial vehicle according to reports. Three others sustained serious injuries. They are now receiving medical attention at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.
The President extended condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those hospitalized.
As a sign of respect for the untimely death of Fatou Sanyang, the scheduled meeting for Bwiam on the 2nd December 2019 as part of the President’s Meet the People Tour has been cancelled, according to State House.
President Barrow returned to State House on Saturday night following nationwide tour to meet the people as mandated by the Gambian constitution.
