Spokesperson for the Government of The Gambia - Ebrima Sankareh

Ebrima Sankareh, the spokesperson for the Government of The Gambia has revealed that Adama Barrow, the president of the Republic of The Gambia is a deportee like the back way boys from Germany. Speaking on the Q-TV program, viewpoint Sankareh Said: “The immigration issue. This question for me is a very passionate issue. It is very emotional. I have my own son deported from America. President Adama Barrow, the president of The Republic of The Gambia is a deportee from Germany, today he is the president of the Republic of The Gambia.” Sankareh further called on journalists to be careful about the vocabulary they use when reporting news because it could be dangerous and lead to irrelevant sentiments.

Also speaking earlier, Ebrima Sillah the Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure empathised with the situation the so-called back way boys have found themselves in after sacrificing their lives, personal wealth and extended family to make it to Europe. “Yes, we have seen a group of young Gambians, especially in the last three weeks being deported from Germany. There are lots of rumours on social media that The Gambia government is aiding and abetting their deportation, but I want to make it categorically clear that the government is not aware of, and, no is it aiding and abetting their deportation.”

Sillah also revealed that the government of The Gambia is currently engaging the countries concerned in Europe to fix the deportation issue. “When it came to our knowledge, we were not happy to see them deported after everything they went through, as a responsible government we engaged these European countries to train and start re-integrating them in their countries and providing them with the necessary support.‘’

The Gambia government is under fire for accepting the deportation of her citizens when most West African countries like Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal seem to avoid having their back way migrants deported for now. Most blame the new government of Adama Barrow for indifference to the plight of the children of poor farmers while sending his son to a private school in America.
