Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has once again secured the top spot on the Forbes 2026 Africa Rich List, with an estimated net worth of $28.5 billion.
The Nigerian business magnate, known for his vast empire in cement, sugar, and oil refining, continues to dominate the continent’s wealth rankings, maintaining a position he has held for several consecutive years.

According to the latest rankings, Nigeria is represented by four billionaires, reaffirming its status as one of Africa’s leading economic powers. Meanwhile, South Africa’s prominent Rupert family holds the second position on the list with a combined fortune of $16.1 billion.

In terms of overall representation, South Africa leads the continent with seven billionaires, the highest number on the list. Morocco follows in third place on the list with three billionaires, behind Nigeria with four billionaires in second place, highlighting a growing concentration of wealth in North Africa.
The 2026 list reflects not only the resilience of Africa’s wealthiest individuals but also the evolving economic landscape across the continent, with key industries such as manufacturing, finance, and energy continuing to drive fortunes.
