Prominent media professional and former government communications executive Nfally Fadera has announced a major return to his broadcasting roots, nearly a decade after stepping away from radio and podcasting to serve in key national roles.

In a reflective Facebook post titled “A Comeback Story: Radio, Podcasting & the Dream That Wouldn’t Die,” Fadera shared his journey back to the media space, unveiling plans to launch a podcast production company dedicated to enriching public discourse in The Gambia.

“Did you ever start something, take a different path, and find yourself coming back to it years later? That’s my story,” he wrote.

Fadera is a talented news reader especially in the Mandinka language before deciding to register a media company and later secured a license for Atlantic FM 103.6, a radio station designed to foster dialogue on governance, democracy, and national development. However, his trajectory shifted when he left for the United Kingdom to pursue a master’s degree. Upon his return, he took up high-profile positions, including serving as media and communications lead at The Gambia OIC Secretariat and as a communications officer at the State House.

Now, in 2025, as The Gambia’s media landscape evolves with the rise of digital platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, Fadera says the time is ripe to return — this time through the lens of podcasting.

“The Gambia’s media scene is thriving like never before… I’m thrilled to announce the launch of a podcast production company aimed at enriching our national conversation. From news and current affairs to history and entertainment, we’ll cover it all,” he stated.

The forthcoming platform is expected to produce diverse content, focusing on issues central to Gambian society while tapping into the global podcasting wave that has transformed how people consume information and stories.

Fadera’s return has been met with enthusiasm from his social media followers, with many hailing it as a significant boost for independent journalism and civic education in the country.

More details on the name, launch date, and program line-up of the podcast company are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
