Former TRRC deputy counsel, Horeja Balla Gaye, has disclosed how she found love at TRRC when she met Alagie Saidy Barrow.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kerr Fatou, she revealed how a search for justice for victims of human rights abuse under Jammeh led to meeting her future spouse:
“We met at the TRRC. I wasn’t hoping to meet anyone. Before that I wasn’t expecting to meet anyone. Alagie is someone I have a lot of respect for. I have a lot of admiration for him.
I think he is a wonderful person. He is one of the most empathetic people I know. He is very compassionate. I admire those qualities. I would have thought those are qualities I have, but when I see it in him it is like double-fold. He cares about how people are doing, how people are feeling”.
She continued:
“He is full of integrity. You can’t help but admire him. He is full of integrity and he would do the right thing no matter who is watching and he speaks his mind which I really love about him. What you see is what you get. He is just a very caring person. When I met him I saw a lot of qualities in him. Somewhere down the line things happened; we ended up getting married.
Long story short, he is a wonderful person. I couldn’t have ended up with a better person. He certainly makes me much better as a human being. But also he is extremely supportive. Ending up with Alagie is one of the best decisions I have made in my entire life. When I look at him, am grateful for the kind of life we have and what we are building”.
