Gunjur Youths for Health Conduct Successful Community Health Screening at Gunjur Main Market

Gunjur Youths for Health has successfully conducted another impactful community outreach at the Gunjur Main Market aimed at promoting public health awareness and preventive healthcare.

The health screening exercise, held on 9th May 2026, attracted a total of 107 people from different age groups and genders across the community despite limited publicity ahead of the event.

The outreach focused primarily on raising awareness about diabetes and hypertension, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices, conducting screenings for the two conditions, and assessing risk factors including overweight and obesity.

Organisers described the exercise as a successful step towards improving community health awareness and early detection of non-communicable diseases within Gunjur and surrounding communities.

The team reaffirmed its commitment to promoting public health through community engagement and volunteerism, noting that such initiatives remain vital in encouraging residents to take proactive steps towards healthier living.

The organisation extended sincere appreciation to its dedicated volunteers for making the outreach successful despite their demanding schedules. Special recognition was also given to the newly graduated doctors and medical students from University of The Gambia who joined the exercise in support of the initiative.

Appreciation was equally extended to the Rage team for their continued collaboration and participation, as well as to Gunjur Project for sponsoring the outreach.

Gunjur Youths for Health further encouraged all Gunjurians and well-wishers to take ownership of the initiative as the organisation continues working collectively towards building a healthier community.
