Gunjur United continued with their fine form with a win against PSV Wellingara earlier today.
The Dabanani outfit edged past a very good PSV side sitting above them in the standings in second. Gunjur United came into the game off the back of a one nil win over 2nd Infantry Battalion last week and 11th in the standings. The southerners started the game with pressing and sustained attacks led by star players Mbemba Fatty and Meen Faal who scored the lone goal against 2nd Infantry. Gunjur United went ahead only for the goal to be disallowed. Still pressing for a win, the team pushed and could have been awarded a penalty for a handball but the central referee waved play on. It was a matter of time before the deadlock was broken and it was Gunjur United who took the lead through Saikou Barrow with a brilliant finish in the 45th minute mark. Gunjur United continue to press PSV Wellingara causing all sorts of problems but PSV remained in the game with brilliant defending and attacking play. Both teams changed some personnel with PSV looking for a leveller while Gunjur United looks to consolidate and protect their lead but could have won the contest by more than a goal. PSV upped their game towards the end of the encounter in search of an equaliser, but Gunjur United held on with composed defending.
The win is a morale booster for the Dabanani outfit as they kept two clean sheets in as many games. The Gunjur United boss, Kakai Bojang must be elated for the performance of his team in the last two games.
