GUNJUR COVID 19 EMERGENCY RELEF COMMITTEE has today distributed two hundred bags of 50kg rice to 200 households in the community of Gunjur as part of their relief efforts during the Coronavirus pandemic and Gambia’s state of emergency.
Today’s distribution is the second of its kind, as 100 household benefited from the first distribution.
Gunjurians and well wishers both in The Gambia and in the diaspora raised over D300,000 to support households in the coastal community as Gambia declared a state of emergency due to the covid-19 pandemic.
According to the organisers, a third distributon of rice will be held next month from the donations received through the Gofundme campaign. The initial 300 bags of rice distribution was funded through donations made in the United Kingsom, USA, Gambia and other parts of Europe.
