As the first batch of relief efforts gets underway under the Gunjur Covid-19 Emergency Relief Fund, Gunjur Development Association (GDA) has boosted the relief efforts by donating fifty bags of 50kg rice to the Coronavirus pandemic emergency relief efforts for underprivileged households in the coastal settlement Of Gunjur.
Gunjur Covid-19 Emergency Relief committee today receiving fifty (50) bags of 50kg rice from Gunjur Development Association GDA through their President Hatab Jobe, GDA member MamaKaddy Bajo and Gunjur Covid-19 Emergency Relief Taskforce Chairman, Tijani Bojang.
Acknowledging the gesture, Gunjur Covid-19 Emergency Relief Committee said: “We register our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Executive and the entire membership of GDA, May Allah reward you abundantly”
The move comes as an initial one hundred households are set to benefit from relief efforts as the country continue state of emergency to stem the spread of the Coronavirus in the country.
The Gunjur Covid-19 Emergency Relief Fund was launched earlier this month and quickly began raising funds to support vulnerable households in Gunjur as a result of the state of emergency declared by the government of the Gambia to control the spread of the covid-19 virus in the country.
The state of emergency meant that families who rely on breadwinners to go out and work for their daily livelihoods could no longer do so, making them vulnerable to hardship during the state of emergency.
The Gunjur Covid-19 Emergency Relief has so far raised an estimated D300,000.00 in both Gunjur and in the diaspora. About D110,000.00 of this worth of relief assistance will be given to one hundred households in Gunjur on Sunday according the organisers of the fund.
