Gunjur United have been relegated from the GFF Men’s Second Division and will compete in the Third Division during the 2026/27 season.

The Dabanani-based side ended their campaign on a high note with a convincing 3-0 home victory over Unique Global. However, the result was not enough to preserve their Second Division status, as results elsewhere went against them.

The coastal boys finish the season in 16th place with 38 points, just one point behind 15th-placed AJ Soccer FC, who secured their survival after drawing their final league match.

Reacting to the disappointing outcome, the club shared an emotional message with supporters:

“We gave it all we’ve got! But results elsewhere didn’t go our way! Sad end to the season. But football continues. We are grateful to all of you for the support. It has been our dream to get this team to the top tier but we couldn’t achieve it. Now we will go back, regroup and prepare for Division 3.

Thank you to all our supporters.”

The relegation marks a difficult chapter for Gunjur United after a hard-fought campaign in which survival was decided by the narrowest of margins. Despite their final-day victory, the club’s fate ultimately depended on other results.

Attention will now turn to rebuilding as Gunjur United aim to bounce back and mount a promotion challenge in the 2026/27 Third Division season.
