ST Brikama Boyo, Students from the University of The Gambia, GEPADG and others on Saturday joined the Gunjur Youth Movement in their annual summer tree planting excercise at various locations in Gunjur.
The event witnessed scores of environmental activities and campaigners descend in Gunjur to plant trees to help combat climate change. ST joined the tree planting exercise as his organisation aims to plant 1 million trees in the country.
The President of Gunjur Youth Movement Sulayman Bojang said of the event:
“ Alhamdulliliahi x3!! once again thank you'll for making this event a successful one. We are grateful for the turnouts of our people. We hope this will spark the light of our upcoming future and bring more fruitful impact to improve our Ecosystem and climate changes.”
Speaking further, Mr Bojang said:
“ On behalf of the organization, I would like to extend my utmost gratitude to everyone who has contributed for the wonderful hard work today.
We acknowledge all the hardest efforts, dedication and support towards this noble project in order for us to reach our goals.
I deeply appreciate every members from our sister organizations, volunteers and donors for showing their relentless effort to this noble course..!!”
Also commenting on the massive and successful tree planting exercise, the Executive Director of Gunjur Environmental Protection And Development Group (GEPADG) said:
“ We thank ST,Gunjur youth movement and ding ding organisation for organising such a successful tree planting exercise under the rain today at the Gunjur beach.I thank Adama and her team from Sifoe,some university students and other participants. Special thank to GEPADG team, GEPADG young KS camera team, Ecotravel team the beach boys and all the other participants for their kind participation. Thanks Babatoff and his team”
To acknowledge the immense contribution he made to the community of Gunjur and as a stellar pillar of the Gunjur Development Association (GDA), coconut trees were were also planted in memory of Bunama Jatta who recently passed away.
The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Gunjur VDC Mr Tijani Bojang, Propriator of Dalaba Eco Lodge Mr Lamin Kere Janneh.
