Ebrima Tourmay alias Sisqo, has been appointed the President of Gunjur United FC. The announcement was made today by Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association.
Mr Touray‘s appointment followed the resignation of long term president and manager , Sukayman Sambou. Mr Sambou left the team a few months ago to concentrate on his health clinic.
Gunjur United FC is a second division outfit in The Gambia Football Federation second tier competition.
The appointment of Ebrima Touray, better known as Sisqo will is a welcome development for players and supporters of Gunjur United. Ebrima who is the CEO of Tech World Company has supported football in Gunjur through his company.
As a former player and an avid football fan, Sisqo through his company Tech World recently donated hundreds of T-shirt’s to the Gunjur Super Nawettan team among host of other contributions towards sports development in Gunjur. Sisqo was a player for Tennis Football Club in Gunjur and have played many games for the football outfit in the local Nawettan tournaments.
Gunjur United currently competes in the GFF second division and almost won promotion into the first division a few years ago. Many believe that finance was the biggest issue for the team to push for promotion into Gambia’s top tier football division. Gunjur Sports Development Committee is the biggest sponsor of the team but are constrained financially.
Fans will be hopeful that Ebrima Touray being appointed President of the team will pave way for the team to mount a sustain effort for promotion into division one.
