Barrow will face a revolution from the people if he goes ahead with plan to launch a commission of enquiry into local governments,
UDP leader Ousainou Darboe has warned.
Speaking in the costal town of Gunjur in an event marking the victory celebration of Kombo South National Assembly member, Kebba K. Barrow, he declared:
“ Every Gambian has the right to protect the constitution under section 6. The Supreme Court has made clear the independence of the local governments from the central government.
This is a country of laws and we shall not sit down and watch him trample the rule of law. We shall bring a stop to this nonsensical witch-hunting he is embarking on.
This is not a political talk, this is about the country. The local governments are very important and they want to interfere with it to do what they did with COVID funds. We will not allow that”.
