The Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, Her Excellency Dr Isatou Touray is the latest high profile Gambian to test positive to the Coronavirus as the country continue to see a surge in the rate of infection in the country.
As a result, the Gambian President H.E Adama Barrow has also gone into self isolation for a period of two weeks as he may have been exposed the the virus at a recent public appearance at the state funeral of the leganday Gambian footballer , ‘Biri Biri’
Announcing the news, State House of The Gambia revealed:
“Vice President Touray tested Positive of Covid19
The Office of the President informs the public that Her Excellency, the Vice President, Dr. Isatou Touray has been tested positive of COVID-19. Consequently, the President, Adama Barrow will be on self-isolation with immediate effect for two weeks.
The public is reminded that the Coronavirus is real and exists in The Gambia. The public is advised to properly use face masks, maintain regular hand washing and social distancing in the fight against the virus. Stay at home and stay safe.”
GunjurOnline wishes VP Touray a speedy recovery and urge all Gambians to follow government and health professionals advice in curbing the spread of the virus in a country with very limited health facilities to deal with the virus pandemic.
