Breaking: Italy beats England at Wembley to win Euro 2020
Roberto Mancini’s Italy has beaten England in the Euro 2020 finals at Wembley on Sunday breaking the hearts of millions of English football fans as the Three Lions’s wait for a major international trophy since 1966 continues.
Luke Shaw gave England the lead just after 2 minutes from a Trippier cross before Italy levelling the score in the 67th minute through Banucci from an Italy corner.
The regulation 90 minutes ended one all taking the game to extra time. After over 120 minutes of play, the game headed to penalty shootout.
Throughout the tournament, England conceded only one goal as they marched to the finals, beating Denmark 2-1 in the semi-finals. Defeat to Italy is a major blow to Gareth Southgate’s young and talented England team and a huge disappointment to England’s most successful manager.
But it wasn’t to be as Italy won the penalty shootout 3-2 to clinch Euro 2020.
