Sheikh Hatab Memorial Nursery School has received a significant boost to its learning and recreational facilities following the installation of new playground equipment and sports infrastructure through the support of Gunjur Project and the Multipercussion Group 2026.

The latest improvements include the installation of new playground swings, providing pupils with a safe and enjoyable environment where they can engage in play-based learning and recreation.
The school has also benefited from newly constructed goalposts, fabricated by Gunjur welder Ismaila Darboe, aimed at encouraging physical activity and making playtime more engaging for the children.
According to project coordinators, the developments were made possible through funding provided by the Multipercussion Group 2026. The school was previously refurbished in March this year by Project Gambia as part of ongoing efforts to improve educational facilities within the community.
Work is also progressing on additional projects designed to further enhance the schoolโs environment. Plans are underway to install new security blocks around the school grounds to strengthen safety and security for pupils and staff.

Meanwhile, preparations are being made for the construction of a new school kitchen, with work expected to commence during the summer months with the support of volunteers from Bouworde.
Gunjur Project emphasised that every child deserves access to a safe, stimulating and supportive environment in which to learn and develop. They noted that the ongoing improvements at Sheikh Hatab Memorial Nursery School represent important steps toward achieving that objective.
The project team expressed gratitude to all donors, volunteers, school staff and community partners whose contributions continue to make a positive difference in the lives of the children and support the schoolโs development.

The latest interventions underscore the continued commitment of local and international partners to investing in the future of Gunjurโs youngest learners through improved educational and recreational facilities.
