Adieu, Alhagie Baboucarr Bambaba Touray
The death of Alhagie Baboucarr Touray, widely known in Gunjur as Bambaba has been announced. He succumbed to a long battle with an illness in the early hours of Friday, 29th May 2020.
Bambaba of Gunjur Santoto is an older brother to Amadou Touray of Leeds, UK. He was named after Baboucarr Jeng of Banjul, father of London based Gambian arts promoter Njok Malik Jeng. Bambaba has always been a towering figure in anything he is involved in and does it with sheer determination and commitment. He was a hardworking and intelligent man.
Paying tribute to Bambaba, Ebrima Janneh offered these:
“A brother, friend and in law. We played against each other when I was young. Funny, caring, a disciplined Muslim and a man of the people. He is a very serious man in what ever he did. I am stunned. May God in His infinite power forgives his sins and grant you Jannah. Touray Kunda is parting with a towering giant. Please, Rest In Peace my Friend. Bon voyage and sleep in peace in the care of Angels from the best of Jannah.“
Reminiscing his time with Alhagie Bambaba Touray in Gunjur, Nottingham based Gunjurian FaKebba Lee Boy Bojang had this to say:
“ A very humbled, kind and friendly human being.. I have spent many years of my adult life hanging out with him during my days of playing football for Sebindinto (YSB)..
In fact I have learned of his long battle with illness through that forum..
May The Almighty Allah the omnipotent and the merciful forgives all his shortcomings and bless him in Jannatul Firdawsi (Ameen)..
My deepest sympathy and hearty condolence to the entire Touray Kunda..
R I P Brother Bamba‐Baa Touray...”
Alhagie Bamba Touray is survived by a wife and children. He was laid to rest in Gunjur this morning. We pray that Allah the Almighty forgive his earthly shortcomings and reward him the highest of Jannah.
