Red Star FC have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Gunjur Sports Committee (GSC) League following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions Sporting General FA at the Nyamina Football Grounds.

The much-anticipated final lived up to expectations, with both teams creating chances in a tightly contested encounter. It was Red Star who found the breakthrough in the first half through Sheriffo Dahaba, whose decisive strike proved to be the difference in the match.



In the second half, Sporting General FA pressed forward in search of an equaliser, but Red Starโ€™s defence stood firm under pressure. While Sporting pushed, Red Star also threatened on the counterattack, maintaining their edge in a fiercely competitive contest. Despite the efforts from both sides, the scoreline remained unchanged as Red Star held on to secure a 1-0 victory. They went home with the winners medal, a giant trophy and cash price of D100, 000.

The final drew a large crowd and was attended by several dignitaries, including Jonathan McKenstry and his assistant, opposition NUP Leader Lamin J Darbo, Kombo South MP Kebba K Barrow, Councillor Momodou Charreh Gibba, as well as Malang Jassey, Dembo Darboe and Maline Lowe of Maline Connection, among others.



The victory marks a major milestone for Red Star FC, capping off an outstanding campaign and dethroning the defending champions.
