Response Team Files Formal Complaint with Police, Announces Peaceful Road Safety Gathering.

The Gunjur Youth Anti-Drifting Response Team has formally submitted a complaint to the Gunjur Police Station and other local authorities, calling for urgent action against dangerous drifting and reckless driving in the community.

The move follows widespread public concern over a car drifting stunt that took place last Sunday at the Gunjur Beach and Coastal Road intersection, an area frequently used by motorists, pedestrians, and beach visitors. Residents have since raised alarm over the potential dangers such activities pose to public safety.

According to the group, complaint letters have been delivered to the Gunjur Police Station, the Alkalo of Gunjur, the Chief of Kombo South, and others, urging authorities to take the necessary measures to prevent a repeat of the incident and ensure the safety of road users.

Following the submission of the letters, the group issued an official statement reaffirming its commitment to peaceful advocacy.

“We wish to inform the public that we have officially submitted our letters to the Police, the Alkalo of Gunjur, the Chief of Kombo South regarding the ongoing reckless drifting and dangerous driving activities that continue to put the lives of our people at risk.

Having fulfilled our responsibility by informing the relevant authorities, our position remains clear.

On Sunday, we will peacefully gather at Gunjur Primary School Junction to demonstrate our unity and our commitment to road safety. Our purpose is to stand together as a community and show that the safety of our children, families, and all road users must come first.

We call on everyone joining us to remain calm, disciplined, and respectful at all times. Let our unity, patience, and peaceful conduct send a stronger message than anger ever could.

This is not about confrontation. It is about protecting our community and reminding everyone that Gunjur deserves safe roads and respect for human life.

Together, we stand for peace, safety, and the protection of every life.”

The group has emphasised that Sunday’s gathering at Primary School Junction will be peaceful and is intended to demonstrate community solidarity in promoting road safety rather than confrontation.

The initiative reflects growing concern among residents over reckless driving and drifting, with many calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to protect lives and maintain public order.

As the community awaits a response from the relevant authorities, the Gunjur Youth Anti-Drifting Response Team says it remains committed to working through peaceful and lawful means to ensure that Gunjur’s roads remain safe for everyone.
