Jenny Ringstead, Co-Founder of the The Gunjur Project, on Friday, 13th March 2026 paid a visit to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen digital learning and technology access in schools.
Ms Ringstead was accompanied by development partner Dr. Amadou Scattred Janneh, CEO of CommIT, and Neil Griffiths, Chief International Operations Officer at Turing Trust.

During the visit, the delegation held discussions with Adama Jimba Jobe, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the ministry, along with other officials. Talks focused on the Gunjur Projectโs ongoing initiatives in Gunjur and explored ways the partners can support the governmentโs efforts to enhance IT equipment and improve digital access for schools.
The visiting team also had a brief engagement with the Honourable Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Claudiana Ayo Cole, where discussions continued on potential collaboration to expand technology and digital learning opportunities in schools across the country.
Ms Ringstead extended special thanks to Dr. Janneh for facilitating the meeting and for his continued dedication to supporting development initiatives in the country.

The visit highlights growing partnerships aimed at improving access to technology and strengthening digital education for students.
The Gunjur Project, a โfamily-founded, community-focusedโ project was established over 20 years ago through a unique partnership between a Gambian community leader from Gunjur and a British family from Yorkshire with health and social care backgrounds. Jo, Butch, Jenny, Brendan and Alagi โenvisioned a place where cultural exchange and community development would go hand in hand.
