The inaugural edition of the Support Our Own Gambian Foundation Cultural Night was successfully held on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at the Sukuta Event Garden, bringing together Gambians and lovers of the countryโ€™s rich cultural heritage in a colourful celebration of tradition, unity, and national identity.

The event, organised by the Support Our Own Gambian Foundation, attracted a large audience from across the country and the diaspora, all united by a shared passion for preserving and promoting Gambian culture.

The festival featured spectacular performances from various cultural groups and talented artists who showcased traditional music, dance, and artistic expressions that highlighted the beauty and diversity of The Gambiaโ€™s cultural heritage. Attendees were treated to an evening of entertainment and cultural pride, making the event a memorable occasion for all present.


In a statement following the event, the Management and Organising Committee expressed profound appreciation to all Gambians and friends of Gambian culture for their overwhelming support and participation.

โ€œWe are deeply grateful for your incredible presence, encouragement, and invaluable contributions, which made this historic cultural celebration a remarkable success. Your support played a vital role in making the event both memorable and meaningful,โ€ the committee stated.


The organisers also paid tribute to several individuals and groups whose contributions were instrumental to the success of the inaugural festival. Among those recognised were:

The organisers described the event as a significant milestone in efforts to preserve and celebrate Gambian traditions and expressed optimism that the festival will become an annual event.

The successful staging of the first-ever Support Our Own Gambian Foundation Cultural Night demonstrates the enduring commitment of Gambians to preserving their cultural identity and passing on the nationโ€™s rich traditions to future generations.


Support Our Own Gambian Foundation (SOOGF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organisation founded by Gunjur-born Gambian philanthropist Ousman Manjang and his wife, Mariama Jabang-Manjang. Established in 2019โ€“2020, the foundation is dedicated to identifying, nurturing and promoting Gambian talent, entrepreneurship, creativity and locally made products while preserving the countryโ€™s rich cultural heritage.
