𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲: 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐮 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐃𝐫 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐮 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐚

The Gambia’s Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Suntu Touray, has been recognised by the country’s High Commissioner to the UK, Her Excellency Dr Fatou Bensouda, for his contribution to advancing The Gambia’s diplomatic objectives.

The recognition took place during a staff reception hosted by Dr Bensouda at her residence in London on Thursday evening.

In a statement following the occasion, Mr Touray expressed profound gratitude to the High Commissioner for her recognition, words of encouragement and acknowledgement of his efforts in promoting The Gambia’s diplomatic interests in the United Kingdom and other countries within the Mission’s jurisdiction.

He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the Gambian people and the diplomatic community in line with the objectives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Deputy High Commissioner also acknowledged the support and guidance of Dr Bensouda, as well as the contributions of current and former Foreign Affairs Ministers, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Lang Yabou, and his colleagues and staff.

He further extended his appreciation to his wife, children, friends and members of the diplomatic community in London and beyond for their unwavering support.

Mr Touray paid special tribute to President Adama Barrow, expressing gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in him to serve the country in his diplomatic capacity.

He also commended the Gambian community in the United Kingdom and other countries within the Mission’s jurisdiction for their warmth, cordiality and welcoming spirit, noting that their openness had enriched engagements and strengthened a shared sense of belonging.

Calling for continued unity among Gambians, he urged the community to support and nurture one another, united by their common heritage and aspirations.

Reflecting on the changing international diplomatic landscape, Mr Touray emphasised the need for kindness, compassion, mutual respect and understanding, stressing that shared humanity remains a constant amid global changes.

He concluded his message by giving praise and gratitude to Almighty God.

The recognition underscores the importance of dedication, teamwork and institutional cooperation in advancing The Gambia’s diplomatic objectives and strengthening its engagement with the international community.
