Foday Jammeh of Gunjur bags BSc Honours in International Relations


Foday Jammeh, a native of Gunjur just graduated with Bachelor of science honours degree in International relations from Dogus University in Turkey.


Foday Jammeh who graduated top of his University department speaking to Gunjur News Online revealed that he planned on doing a master’s degree in International Relations with a desire to serve his beloved Gambia or United Nations by extension. Speaking to Gunjur News Online, Foday has this to say on his next move.

“I am keenly looking forward to doing a master’s program in International Relations. I have always wanted to be a diplomat all my life and I foresee myself working with the UN or the Ministry of foreign affairs of The Gambia”.

Foday Jammeh, son of Nuha Y. Jammeh (Jamba Jammeh) and late Fatou Darboe of blessed memory started his educational journey at TARUD Pre- School in Gunjur where his mother was a teacher before proceeding to Gunjur lower and upper basic schools respectively. After the successful completion of his WAEC exams at Gunjur upper basic school, he proceeded to Nusrat Senior Secondary school where he obtained his high school Diploma in 2011.

Foday Jammeh being an academic high flyer, was later granted a scholarship by the Turkish government to study İnternational relations at Dogus University in İstanbul, Turkey. Upon arrival in Turkey, he first enrolled at Istanbul Kultur University school of foreign languages and completed a one-year Turkish language program before proceeding to Dogus University to study International Relations.

Due to his outstanding performance at Dogus University, he participated in the Erasmus+ student exchange program co-sponsored by the European Union at Adam Mickiewicz of Poznan Poland at the department of Political Science and Journalism. He also participated in the summer school for interdisciplinary Polish studies at the European University of Viadrina Frankfurt (Order) Germany.

Lamin Jammeh, a brother to Foday is elated but not the least surprised by Foday’s academic achievements “Foday has always shown great desire to succeed academically from a very tender age. He comes from a family of educators and as such, I am not surprised to see him succeed in further education. He is supremely talented, and you can see that from his records in higher education”, Lamin Jammeh concluded.
