Football: Gunjur fans accuse Super Nawettan committee of lacking respect for their team

The fans of the FIBank Super Nawettan semi-finalist, Gunjur are calling for a fairer treatment from the tournament's organisers. The supporters of the last season champions are aggrieved by what they described as "a deliberate act or marginalisation" from the community football's organiser's and are demanding for their team to be given the respect they deserve.

"One thing that disappointed me is that last season we won the title and we have the best player and top scorer from our team, but still they don't have their prizes which is not fair" This mood has been triggered by the non-adherence from the Super Nawettan committee to honour some outstanding prizes due to be awarded to some of the Gunjur players from last season's tournament. These players should've picked up the best player and the leading goal scorer awards, but despite all efforts these are still not been handed to the said players to this date.added coach Bojang.

The issue was also raised by the team's coach, Baboucarr Bojang in the wake of his team's quarter-final victory over Kombo East, where he told reporters about his disappointment in the committee's failure to hand the awards to his players in over a year. And this time around the fans have felt their team and the players have not received the recognition they deserved after finishing in the semi-finals and had conceded only one goal in 472 minutes of play, which also saw the team kept the most clean sheets (5) in open play throughout the competition, but despite this defensive solidity they are feeling hard done by the Super Nawettan organising committee for not considering their goalkeeper, Yunus Jatta for the golden gloves, which went to the BEM's young goalkeeper, Malick Senghore, who had only played three games and kept two clean sheets, as oppose to Yunus Jatta who had played in all of Gunjur's five games, and only conceded one goal in open play. This they say is no disrespect to the BEM goalie, but a fact they want to raise with the GFF and the Super Nawettan Organising Committee as they feel the decision was not justified.

They have raised their disappointment in Gambia Football Federation (GFF) for staying mute over the issues as the body responsible for football administration in the country.
