The chairman of Kombo Sillah Community cultural weekend sub-committee, Ismaila Bill Sanyang told @Gunjur - The Voice of Dabanani that the purpose of the events is to promote Gambian culture abroad and in particular, South West England where there is a large Gambian community. Mr Sanyang emphasised the need for unity among Gambians pointing out that the sale of 'Asobi'(ceremonial clothing) underpins that need. He said the association has sold over 200 metres of Asobi and more people are asking to buy. That, he noted is a success in itself. Mr Sanyang said Friday 29th September will be dedicated to cultural events such as drumming and traditional wedding alongside a Gambian films (slide shows) exhibition by Grant Fleming, a well known photographer in London. He said there will be a mini football tournament among four teams in honour of the late Baboucarr Jatta (Boy Neneh) a founding member of Kombo Sillah Association. This will be followed by a fundraising music event called "Dress to Impress" at the Malcolm X community centre in Bristol. All events will be covered live on newly launched SKY POWER online radio operated by Mustapha Jammeh, formerly of Radio Gambia. Kombo Sillah Association (UK) a registered charity in England and Wales, with charity number 1158156
