It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Ebrima B. Touray, esteemed Head of the Department of Islamic and Arabic Studies at Gambia College, who departed this life last night. The Gunjur-born erudite scholar is well known for his knowledge and wisdom in the Islamic religion which he does not hesitate to share with others.

Mr. Touray dedicated his career to the pursuit of knowledge and the nurturing of minds, guiding countless students through their academic and personal journeys. His unwavering commitment to Islamic and Arabic scholarship, coupled with his generosity of spirit, will leave an indelible mark on the community of Gunjur, the Gambia college community and beyond.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Touray was known for his humility, wisdom, and service to his community. He inspired his colleagues through his professionalism, and his students through his kindness and encouragement, often providing translation of the Holy Quran at Gunjur Central Mosque during Ramadan months.
Mr. Touray was a respected educator, mentor, and community leader whose dedication to knowledge and service touched many lives. His legacy will live on through the countless students and colleagues he inspired.
Funeral prayers and burial will take place today in Gunjur, in accordance with Islamic rites.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those mourning this great loss. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
