UDP deputy leader Aji Yam Secka dismisses Barrow threat, predicts 2021 victory
Aji Yam Secka, deputy leader of the United Democratic Party has declared her party is unbothered by Barrow‘s political manoeuvres ahead of 2021 elections.
Speaking in a wide-ranging marathon interview with Kerr Fatou, she assessed:
“Barrow cannot hurt UDP. He should have respected his father. He campaigned on his reputation. Ousainou Darboe loves Barrrow.
He still loves him to this day. If you talk about Adama to Ousainou, he tells you to let him be. When we had the congress in Basse he was made chairman and everyone unanimously agreed. Adama couldn’t take any position in the party after 2016 coalition. He had already resigned. We had a meeting at State House Barrow called over Sanna Jawara’s comments.
Ousainou Darboe was out of town and I organized some executive members I went with. Barrow came with a bunch of newspapers and didn’t even greet anybody. He was very angry. Everyone talked and I was the last to intervene. I told him he seemed angry and he said ‘I’m supposed to be angry because am accused of bribing MPs to be Secretary General and leader of UDP ’. I put it to him he couldn’t be secretary and leader of UDP and he agreed then I asked why he was displeased. I told him to do his three years and come back to the party. But the people around him convinced him to go for five years according to the constitution. I believe 100% UDP will win in 2021”.
