It’s official: President Barrow will form a political party
Gambian President H.E Adama Barrow has officially announced that he will form and register a political party to contest the 2021 presidential elections.
Barrow made this announcement at the conclusion of his meet the people’s tour in the capital, Banjul. Speaking at the meeting, Barrow indicated that he has been asked to form his own political party by supporters in every region of the country.
As a result, his party will be registered before the end of December and formal launching of the party will be held in 2020.
Although most political observers have said that it was only a matter of time before the incumbent announces his intention of running for a second term of office by setting up a political party.
One thing is for sure, Gambia’s political landscape is changing and 2021 presidential elections presents an interesting time in the political history of the country.
