Former TRRC Lead Counsel Essa Mbye Faal has been appointed by the ICC to lead the investigations into the Myanmar genocide on the Rohingya people.
Mr Faal revealed this during an interview with Kerr Fatou earlier today.
Mr Essa Faal Lead the investigations into the crimes committed by former Gambian ruler Yahya Jammeh before venturing into politics as independent Presidential candidate under the "Sobeya" movement.
The top criminal trial lawyer has not been regularly seen publicly follwing the December 2021 Presidential polls in which his apparent support base did not translate to votes for many reasons some of which he revealed that he has answers to, and some he does not have the answers.
It could be recalled that the Gambia took the case of the Rohingya genocide to the International Criminal Court under the former Justice Minister, Hon. Abubacarr Tambedou.
Mr Faal’s appointment as Lead investigator follows shows the good track record of Gambians at the ICC, the institution where Mr Faal spent many years as a senior Lawyer.
