The Golden Lead Fish Meal Factory in Gunjur has committed criminal acts of forgery and misrepresentation by providing fake certification to the government of Japan, a document made available to Gunjuronline reveals.
Blowing the lid off the fresh round of scandal for the beleaguered company, rights activist, Dr Amadou Scattred Janneh postulated:
“We are going on the offensive. We can’t keep complaining about how fish meal factories contaminate our environment and deplete our meager resources without doing anything.
GOLDEN LEAD FACTORY presented a fraudulent health certificate purportedly issued by a Gambian Inspector (a guy who actually lived in China since 2016), then presented it to authorities in Japan to gain market access there.
Japan’s Agriculture & Fisheries ministry then contacted The Gambia’s Food Safety and Quality Authority, only to discover that the document was fake. The Gambia government, through its various agencies, is very much aware of this. The mountain of evidence we have, may be a factor in attempts to drag the civil suit filed against Golden Lead Factory”.
Janneh vows he will be “sharing more information about the nefarious activities surrounding the company and those responsible for regulating and monitoring it”.
